The beautiful tent city of Marian Days seems to just appear; however, months of preparation go into transforming the amazing CRM grounds into a bustling city. The Fathers at the Congregation of the Mother of the Redeemer spend months preparing and planning for the event. In working closely with the Fathers, the Police Department begins their preparations around March of every year.
It truly is a team effort to prepare the community for the impact of tens of thousands of visitors that flood into Carthage the first week of August each year. Many city departments, including the Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works, and IT are engaged in coordinating logistics and safety.
About a week prior to the event many travel in to begin setting up camp and prepare the food tents. It is amazing how acres of green grass turn into homes, restaurants and a vibrant marketplace. A space where memories will be made with friends and family.
Stay tuned, as we continue to highlight the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making this very special celebration come to life.
